About Christine Wood (Couples Counsellor)
Christine Wood is one of our experienced couples counsellors at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling, offering relationship counselling to couples looking to navigate challenges and strengthen their connection.
With a warm, empathetic, and professional approach, Christine works with couples facing a wide range of issues, including communication breakdown, trust difficulties, emotional distance, infidelity, and the effects of external stressors on a relationship.
Her focus is on helping couples better understand each other’s perspectives and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
Christine offers a calm and non-judgemental environment where couples feel safe to explore their concerns openly and work together towards meaningful change.
Experienced Relationship Counsellor
Christine brings over eight years of experience in relationship counselling, having worked extensively with Relate (a relationship counselling service) from 2012 to 2020.
Her training includes specialist courses in working with couples, domestic violence awareness, and mental health, all delivered through the Relate Institute.
This foundation, combined with her years of hands-on experience, allows her to support couples through a wide range of relationship challenges with confidence, empathy, and professionalism.
Couples Counselling Newcastle
Christine believes that relationships thrive on mutual understanding, trust, and clear communication.
Her counselling work supports couples in developing (and often rebuilding) these foundational elements, helping them to navigate conflict, reconnect emotionally, and build a future together, helping people move forward from previous difficulties.
Whether you’re facing long-standing challenges or recent changes in your relationship, Christine works alongside you to help restore your relationship connection and move forward with clarity and confidence so you can be stronger than ever.
Empathetic Approach to Couples Therapy
Christine was drawn to counselling because of her deep sense of empathy and natural ability to connect with others. Over the years, many people have been drawn to her for support—something that led her to formally train and pursue a career in relationship counselling.
She continues to find purpose and fulfilment in helping couples build stronger, more resilient relationships.
Outside of her work, Christine enjoys family life with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also has a love of travel and new experiences, which reflect her openness, curiosity, and belief in lifelong growth.
