About Katharine Davison (Adult Counsellor)

Katharine Davison is one of our dedicated Counsellors at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling, specialising in an integrative approach and is committed to assisting people in overcoming a range of problems.

With a focus on integrative therapy and counselling, Katharine addresses issues such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, and has extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and with neurodivergent clients.

She uses a range of approaches from person-centred counselling, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic attachment to help her clients overcome their difficulties and feel better.

Experienced Integrative Therapist

Katharine’s therapeutic approach is client centric, marked by warmth, gentle curiosity, and understanding. 

She uses a range of therapeutic methods derived from different counselling and therapy approaches, tailored to individual needs so that she can best serve her clients in overcoming their difficulties whether related to depression, anxiety, bereavement, confidence or other problems.

Holding qualifications including an FdA in Counselling and a BA in Therapeutic Counselling from Teesside University, Katharine has accumulated over 400 hours of counselling practice. 

Katharine is also trained and experienced in working with a range of difficuties in the context of neurodiversity, able to effectively engage those with autism and other needs, to improve the effectiveness of her counselling.

Experienced Counsellor for Adults

Katharine’s journey into counselling was sparked by a passion for emotional wellbeing and the transformative potential individuals possess with the right support.

Her own life experiences and the emotional struggles of people close to her led her to explore the field of counselling, where she gained understanding and appreciation for the power of the therapeutic relationship in empowering change.

With a background in volunteering as a counsellor for a CIC company and also experienced in LGBTQ+ counselling, Katharine has also taken on the role of a part-time Counselling Lecturer for Teesside University and the Education Training Collective.

Registered with Professional Bodies

Katharine Davison (Counsellor) is registered with the British Association for Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP).

Katharine offers face-to-face appointments at the main clinic in Gosforth (Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling at the Regent Centre).

Online therapy using Skype, Facetime, Zoom & WhatsApp Video is also available.
