About Deborah Dixon (Couples Counsellor and EMDR Therapist)

Deborah Dixon is one of our relationship counsellors at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling, working with couples and individuals to provide marriage guidance & relationship counselling as well as EMDR for individuals having experienced trauma or difficulties.

With her integrative approach to counselling, Deborah supports the growth and achievement of desired goals, to individuals and couples experiencing relationship difficulties.

Deborah helps those across all sexualities, genders and relationship statuses to address whatever individual or relationship difficulties they may be having – whether married or in a civil partnership, living together or apart, straight, gay, bisexual or transgender.

She is also an Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) trained Consultant and offers EMDR to those that have experienced difficulties relating to trauma or other issues that the approach can help with.

Experienced Relationship Counsellor and EMDR Therapist

Having initially trained as a counsellor in 2010, Deborah received a Foundation Degree in Counselling in 2013, before going on to gain a BA (Hons) in Counselling in 2014.

For over 10 years, she has had extensive experience working with adults over the age of 18, holding placements in the NHS, and within a Women’s Health organisation.

In addition to her counselling degree, Deborah has also received training in EMDR therapy, an advanced certificate in online and telephone counselling, and in Couples Counselling.

Person-Centred Approach to Counselling

Deborah has always had a keen interest in helping people to make their own choices, Deborah chose to change career and trained as a person-centred counsellor.

Through extensive training, she now provides an integrative approach in her work, providing a combination of therapeutic methods that are best suited to the goals of each couple or individual. 

These include EMDR to help those that have experienced a trauma or difficulties life experiences, and relationship therapy for those wanting to improve their marriage or relationship.

As a senior accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), Deborah is passionate about supporting people through their difficulties, and helping them to strengthen their relationships.

Registered with Professional Bodies

Deborah offers face-to-face appointments at her clinic at Greenfield Business Centre in  Gateshead.

Online therapy using Skype, Facetime, Zoom & WhatsApp Video is also available.
