About Dr Stuart Sadler (CPsychol, PG Dip Clinical Neuropsychology)
Hello, I’m Dr Stuart Sadler, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist based in Newcastle upon Tyne. I specialise in helping people suffering from depression, anxiety and sleep problems (and related difficulties).
I qualified from the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University in 2007, and the Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Neuropsychology at Glasgow University in 2012 after moving to Newcastle from York.
From there, I set up Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling to provide high quality counselling, therapy (including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, CBT) and psychology services. Our mission is to help people feel better, and stay better, for longer.
Trained Clinical Psychologist
Following my qualification, I practised for 10 years in the National Health Service (NHS) and pursued advanced training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Therapy, and Mindfulness based therapies.
As a Clinical Psychologist, I am also trained in other therapies, such as solution-focused therapy and psychodynamic therapy (psychotherapy), which add value to the effectiveness of my approach.
Since qualifying, I have pursued further knowledge and training in CBT and other approaches to help increase the effectiveness of my skills in order to help the clients I work with.
Specialist Knowledge
My specialist areas of expertise are in working with depression, anxiety (including trauma) and sleep disorders. I am currently one of the few UK based psychologists trained to be able to offer Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), a specialist therapy that focuses on helping people sleep better and on curing insomnia, nightmares and early/repeated waking.
I am also experienced in working with other problems such as anger management, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bereavement or loss and worry. My post-graduate diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology also allows me to include insights into the biological basis of mental health into our therapy.
Registered with Professional Bodies
I am registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adhere by their codes of conduct, ethics and requirements for ongoing supervision and continuing skill development. I am also a recognised member of The British Sleep Society.
I offer face-to-face appointments with individuals, couples and families at my main clinic in Gosforth (Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling at the Regent Centre) and also in Jesmond (Fleming Business Centre).
Online therapy using Skype, Facetime, Zoom & WhatsApp Video is also available.
