About Louise Keyes (Counsellor and Couples Counsellor)
Louise is one of the counsellors at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling specialising in individual counselling and couples therapy, as well as Emotional Freedom Technique to help people to overcome stress and cope better with in the moment anxiety.
Her special areas of interests are in anxiety, depression and phobias (including Dental Phobia) and she has a Dentistry degree from Newcastle University.
More recently, Louise also completed training to become a skilled couples counsellor, helping people with difficulties related to arguments, relationship problems and marriage guidance.
Trained Professional Counsellor
Louise has obtained many qualifications since her Dentistry Degree including a Post-Graduate Certificate in psychology, a Graduate Diploma in psychology, and a Foundation Degree in Counselling.
She also completed Levels 1, 2 & 3 EFT – Practical Wellbeing Training and further courses to become qualified as an Advanced Certified EFT Practitioner.
Louise is registered with the BACP and the EFTi and has always had a keen interest in people, being well known as someone with a listening ear since her school days.
While she initially started her career as a dentist, after years in the profession Louise decided to retrain as a counsellor and realised that she thrived when working with people suffering from phobias (including a fear of the dentist), low self-esteem, or those who struggled with mental health issues.
More About Louise's Approach
Louise confesses that she loves the science of counselling because every client brings their own perspective on life, which helps remind us about the challenges we all face.
With each client bringing their own experiences, their own beliefs and challenges, Louise finds every day interesting and rewarding as she helps people overcome their difficuties.
When she isn’t working in the practice, Louise can be found practising the tenor horn or gazing up at the sky with curiosity (she is a full member of The Cloud Appreciation Society!).
Registered with Professional Bodies
Louise offers face-to-face appointments at the main clinic in Gosforth (Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling at the Regent Centre).
