Experienced Child Counsellor
In addition to her work as a specialist neurodiversity counsellor, Cheryl has extensive experience working in schools, where she provides counselling to children and young adults.
Throughout her time working in education settings, she has used her counselling skills to help clients to manage and overcome their problems, whatever they may be related to.
Cheryl’s counselling focuses on delivering client centred support that gradually empowers individuals, and enables them to make informed decisions.
Her specific areas of experience and expertise are working with autism, ADHD, PTSD & trauma, depression, anxiety, transitions, bereavement, those with low self-esteem, and family issues.
Specialist Neurodiversity Counsellor
Cheryl decided to become a counsellor after her childhood experiences were not always the best; from these experiences, she was inspired to want to help children and young people in any way that she can.
As an accredited counsellor through the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), Cheryl originally qualified in 2009, receiving a degree in Person Centred Counselling from Sunderland University.
In addition to these qualifications, Cheryl has also completed further training courses, with a Level 4 Certificate in Child and Adolescent Counselling through Open Study College.
Cheryl is passionate about helping her clients to build an effective emotional repertoire, improve their communication skills, and recognise their self-regulation and coping mechanisms. Outside of counselling, she loves to get lost in a good book.
