About Dr Christine Price (Clinical Psychologist)
Dr Christine Price is one of our most experienced Clinical Psychologists at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling.
Christine has over many years of experience working with both adults and teenagers and provides a range of therapies for issues including stress and anxiety, low mood, depression, OCD, eating disorders (including anorexia and bulimia), trauma, and difficulties with physical health.
Having worked in both the NHS and privately, Christine has experience with a range age groups across a diverse range of settings. These include working with adults with some of the difficulties mentioned above, but adds to this with her experience from Physical Health settings, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, (CAMHS), and Sexual Health Services.
Trained Clinical Psychologist
Originally studying a BA (hons) in Psychology which she obtained from the University of Birmingham, Christine obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Newcastle in 1997.
Since then, she has taken advanced training in Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), a highly effective approach for dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and reducing self-criticism, with the Compassionate Mind Foundation in London.
Christine has also attended further training in dealing with complex trauma and PTSD, and in delivering Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) (the newest form of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, or CBT) with Northumbria Healthcare.
Christine’s early interest in people led her into becoming a Clinical Psychologist, as she was compelled to learn more about what makes us who we are, what makes us similar and what makes us unique.
She uses this interest to help people overcome their difficulties with empathy and support, as well as helping them to effectively manage their problems.
