About Dr Marie Robinson (Child Counselling Psychologist)
Dr Marie Robinson is an experienced Child Psychologist in Newcastle who provides assessment and therapy for young people of all ages. As well as working with individual children, Marie also works with parents, couples, and families to support them in their roles.
Marie specialises in treating a range of problems that might occur in childhood such as bullying, eating problems, depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, relationship problems, and difficulty with adjustment or bereavement to name but a few.
Marie is particularly skilled in applying approaches from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help the children, parents, and their families overcome their difficulties, whether at home, at work, or at school.
Experienced Child Counselling Psychologist
As a trained Counselling Psychologist specialising in Child & Adolescent Psychology, Marie has extensive experience of working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
In her previous roles, Marie has focused on helping children, teenagers, young people and their families overcome a range of problems.
Marie has experience of working in both primary care (where she worked with difficulties related to depression, anxiety, OCD, and self-esteem and confidence issues) and also within secondary care mental health settings.
As such, she is able to help both children and adults experiencing more complex difficulties such as psychosis, eating problems, and difficulties with personality disorder.
Given her range of experience, Marie often works with children, teenagers and adolescents, as well as adults and families who experience any of the above problems, at our clinic.

Marie has a diverse range of therapeutic skills and training, such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT).
As well as being a capable and competent therapist, Marie has also used her expertise to lecture at both Newcastle University and Teeside University on subjects relevant to child and adult mental health.
Marie is trained in clinical supervision and has a specialist interest in ethical issues in clinical psychology, and physical and emotional wellbeing. She also has a keen interest in Child Psychology and Complex Difficulties.
