About Lizzy Hodcroft (Counsellor)
Lizzy Hodcroft is one of our counsellors at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling, providing empathetic counselling for adults and counselling for over 16s with a wide range of issues.
With her integrative approach to counselling, Lizzy has particular expertise in working closely and productively with individuals affected by domestic abuse, those experiencing difficulties with anger management and those on the recovery journey from addiction and self-harm.
Her diverse experience as a counsellor and wellbeing provider has prepared her to work with clients of all backgrounds, who may be struggling with difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment issues, anger management, stress, and low self-esteem.
Experienced Integrative Counsellor
After receiving a Level 5 Diploma in Counselling, Lizzy is experienced in providing a variety of therapeutic models within her counselling sessions, including techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and Person-Centred Counselling.
Lizzy began her journey to becoming a counsellor after she embarked on her own transformative journey through mental health challenges.
Having faced and overcome significant personal struggles, she understands first-hand the profound impact that compassionate support and effective guidance can have on someone’s life.
This personal connection to the field fuels Lizzy’s commitment to providing a safe and understanding space for clients to explore their emotions and find paths to healing and growth.
Person-Centred Counselling
Lizzy’s qualifications and CPD work has provided her with a robust foundation in counselling approaches, and her ability to help those experiencing a range of difficulties, including anger management, counselling for recent trauma, depression, bereavement, and also confidence counselling.
Lizzie also continues to work closely with the Northumberland Recovery College, where she provides support using her lived experience to help others on their recovery journey.
This position has enabled Lizzy to work closely with service users, assisting them in crafting recovery plans and achieving their goals whether related to their current circumstances, or long-standing difficulties addiction, anger management, low self-esteem, and a range of other problems.
Lizzy has also delivered inspirational and informative keynote talks over the years, and has delivered wellbeing solutions for the RAF, Jhub, and Ubisoft, as well as individuals looking to find better balance and improve their view of life.

Lizzy Hodcroft (Counsellor) is registered with the British Association for Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP).
Lizzy offers face-to-face appointments at the main clinic in Gosforth (Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling at the Regent Centre).
Online therapy using Skype, Facetime, Zoom & WhatsApp Video is also available.
