About Mark Ross (Counsellor)
Mark Ross is one of our counsellors at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling, offering a person centred and integrative counselling approach for adults experiencing a range of issues.
With over 10 years of experience as a counsellor, Mark specialises in helping those with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, ensuring each person feels heard, understood and respected.
He provides a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, fostering a caring, compassionate and professional relationship with each of his clients.
Qualified & Experienced Counsellor
After gaining a foundation degree in counselling in 2016, Mark has spent the last 2 years providing counselling to frontline NHS staff, within the occupational health department of a large regional hospital.
Although his initial training as a counsellor was in the person-centred model of counselling, Mark has also completed further professional development which has broadened his knowledge towards an integrative approach.
This means that individuals are placed at the centre of every conversation within all counselling sessions. Rather than providing answers, Mark offers a safe and supportive space for individuals to discover their own answers and to see themselves, their issues, and their strengths in new ways.
Person-Centred & Integrative Counselling
Throughout his time as a counsellor, Mark has gained experience in helping people with issues including anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, relationship issues, bereavement, anger, ADHD, Autism, work related stress and issues related to family dynamics.
He is committed to establishing a therapeutic relationship with his clients that is built on trust, mutual respect, and a sense of hope – all of which he believes are essential for fostering meaningful change.
More About Mark's Approach
Mark attributes his counselling career to his own personal experience of therapy. He believes that this experience made him realise what a powerful agent for positive change that counselling with the right person can be.
He feels passionately about the work that he does, and considers it a privilege to be invited into the world of another person, helping people to overcome their difficulties and flourish in every aspect of their day to day life.
Outside of his work, Mark finds peace in natural surroundings, and spends as much time as he can walking in countryside and local coastal areas.
