About Samantha Black (Child and Adolescent Counsellor)
Samantha Black is one of the therapists at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling who specialises in working with children, teenagers, and adolescents.
As a Child & Adolescent Counsellor, Samantha uses a variety of counselling techniques including talking therapy, play therapy and art therapy, to help children deal with issues such as bullying, exam stress, self-esteem & confidence problems, childhood depression, and anxiety among others.
As well as working with children, teenagers and young people, Samantha is also able to work with parents and adults who experience their own difficulties, assisting in the recovery of anxiety, depression, low mood, support with life changes (including separation and bereavement) and support with adult eating disorders.
Samantha decided to become a counsellor when she developed an interest in mental health as a teenager, when she herself benefitted from professional intervention from a skilled counsellor.
Experienced Therapist
Samantha’s training is extensive and varied. Her training started when she achieved an NVQ2 in health and social care in 2006 and since then, Samantha has completed an NVQ in health, social care and professional practice, a foundation degree in counselling and a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling in 2020.
Outside of these, Samantha has also completed further training courses on Autism Awareness, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Safeguarding Children, Mental Capacity, Dementia Care and Positive Behaviour Support.
Samantha continues to develop her counselling skills and knowledge by engaging with further training related to her field.

As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and with a background in support work, Samantha brings a wealth of knowledge to her role at Newcastle Psychologist and Counselling.
