About Tracy Hannigan (Specialist Sleep Therapist)
Tracy is one of our Specialist Sleep Therapists at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling, specialising in providing sleep therapy for adults with insomnia, nightmares and other sleep related issues.
Her particular area of specialism is working with CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia), to provide relaxation training, sleep schedule adjustment and help with anxiety about sleep.
Having trained with several emminent sleep therapists in America, Tracy is an experienced sleep therapist who uses her skills to help people overcome a range of sleep-related problems.
Sleep Therapy for Adults
Tracy obtained her BA in Psychology, and has extensive experience in offering sleep support to adults within a variety of settings in the UK and the US, including in community mental health and within clinical settings.
Born out of her own personal experiences with insomnia, she has a lifelong fascination with sleep, and even more importantly, how we relate to our sleep. Her aim as a sleep therapist is to support adults with insomnia to reclaim the sleep they want and deserve.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
She has completed a number of additional qualifications in advanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia, centred on working with complex trauma and nightmares.
CBT-I is a specialist therapy designed to reset sleep mechanisms, and is proven to work for issues including insomnia, night time or early morning waking, and stopping nightmares – leading to improved sleep.
Tracy is registered with the British Sleep Society, and adheres to their ethical frameworks for sleep therapy.
When she is not working with sleep therapy clients, Tracy enjoy weightlifting, whipping up a mean curry, knitting, and parenting her 18 year old son – enjoying the time we get our lives is her main mission.
