Rediscover Yourself with CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) was established as a groundbreaking talking therapy in the mid-twentieth century and has been shown to be effective in helping people overcome a range of problems as well as being able to help people function better in day to day life.

Since then, CBT has been demonstrated as one of the most proven and effective talking therapies, suitable for treating several problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma, panic disorder, phobias, chronic pain, anger management, and even insomnia and sleep trouble (in an adapted form) – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (or CBT-I).

Dr Stuart Sadler (Lead Clinical Psychologist) at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling is one of the few UK based therapists trained in this approach and has successfully helped many people experiencing nightmares, insomnia, early waking and problems with sleep, whether as the main problem or along with other difficulties such as depression, anxiety, and even trauma.

CBT Therapist Newcastle

By choosing one of our CBT clinics in Newcastle Upon-Tyne, you are electing the best possible care with an experienced and highly trained team of Psychologists and CBT therapists.

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy sessions are often 50 minutes long and weekly or fortnightly, and involve deconstructing your problem so that you and your CBT therapist can find the best way to overcome your difficulty, whether related to depression, anxiety, anger, trauma or other difficulties.

Once your CBT therapist has helped you understand why you feel the way you do, they will work with you to help you develop a range of skills to recognise and change the cognitive and behavioural patterns (such as negative thinking, dwelling, avoidance and others) that might be causing your problem.

CBT is a practical and effective treatment, and our trained and experienced Psychologists and CBT Therapists in Newcastle will guide and support you through the process, starting with your initial session, and moving at a pace that is right for you and helping you develop effective coping strategies that work.

Other Treatments & Therapies

Our therapy clinic in Newcastle also offers a range of other effective talking therapies, all delivered by trained and experienced psychologists, counsellors and therapists, to help you work through and overcome your difficulties in the most effective way possible.

From traditional therapies such as counselling and family therapy, through to newer approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprorcessing (EMDR), we offer a range of approaches to best suit your problem and goals.

While counselling is beneficial for clients that may not require as structured a treatment as CBT, approaches such as EMDR are a proven alternative for those that have experienced trauma and find talking therapies more difficult.

Approaches such as family therapy can help you overcome problems that might be related to difficulties within the family and ACT is the newest form of CBT which again, is offered at Newcastle Psychologist & Counselling.

Services are available for adults, children and families or couples that might be experiencing difficulties.
